William Cunningham, Principal of New College, Edinburgh, from 1847 until his death in 1861, was one of the greatest of Scottish theologians. Historical Theology is his masterpiece. These lectures cover most of the major doctrinal discussions of Christian history up to Cunningham's day, paying special attention to Romanism, Socinianism (the parent of much modern liberal teaching), and Arminianism.
