Its chief characters are the great Thomas Chalmers, and six of his students: Alexander Duff, John Urquhart, John Adam, Robert Nesbit, William Sinclair Mackay and John Ewart. These six young men, deeply influenced by the legendary Chalmers, also exerted a remarkable influence on one another as fellow students at the University of Saint Andrews, Scotland, in the 1820s. Dr. Stuart Piggin is Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Dr. John Roxborogh teaches Church History at Seminari Theoloji Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
