Description: Every Sunday over 100,000 sermons are preached across America, yet in the four centuries since Christianity first arrived on these shores, only one sermon could truly be called famous. That sermon is "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," by Jonathan Edwards. The First Great Awakening, as the Evangelical Revival in North America was called, started in Edwards' church in Northampton, Massachusetts. And it changed American religion forever.
Famed Puritan preacher Jonathan Edwards is forever known for his sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,” though that is only one of hundreds of sermons of great merit. Michael McMullen has compiled a second collection featuring twenty more sermons preached by Edwards that have never before appeared in print. They are taken from a collection of Edwards papers held at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale University and have been transcribed as a labor of love to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Edward's birth.
