Description : For centuries those who have opposed the Christian faith have gleefully argued that if God is good, He cannot be all-powerful, since there is evil in the world; and if God is all-powerful, He cannot be good since there is evil in the world. Either God is good or He is all-powerful, but He cannot be both. Either way, skeptics argue, the God of the Bible is disproved. For centuries Christian theologians have attempted to refute this argument, and unfortunately most have failed, that is until now. One of America’s greatest Christian philosophers and defenders of faith has succeeded and he had done it brilliantly. "God and Evil" by Dr. Gordon H. Clark, is a masterful presentation to the ancient problem of evil.
Originally Chapter Five of Religion, Reason and Revelation, Gordon Clark accomplishes what many theologians and philosophers have attempted and failed to do; explain the problem of evil. As Clark has said, “whereas various other views disintegrate at this point, the system known as Calvinism and expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith offers a satisfactory and completely logical answer” The answer lies, according to Clark, in our epistemological starting point and highest presuppostion, which is the Word of God.
Highly Recommended! Probably the best work available on the subject at hand and required reading for long time visitors to monergism.com. Standing on the foundation of the Word of God, Clark has given us an answer to the theodicy issue. This little book is also an excellent refutation of all forms of Arminianism: deeply and convincingly tackles the issue of free will., exposing false systems of understanding.
